Using NDIS Funding for Speech Pathology

Kathy Wooler Speech Pathology is NDIS registered, so you are able to use existing NDIS funding through us for speech pathology services, if these services are on your NDIS plan.

Private health vs. Medicare – can you claim Speech Pathology?

Medicare

Limited rebates are available through Medicare for speech therapy and speech pathology.

If your child has received a diagnosis of Autism, your paediatrician may put you on a plan to have up to 20 speech therapy sessions claimed through Medicare. Our team are happy to discuss these Medicare plans with you.

If your child has ongoing needs requiring a team (speech therapy teamed up with paediatrics, audiology or occupational therapy), you may be able to get an Enhanced Primary Care Plan (EPC Plan) from your GP. Under an EPC plan, fees are paid on the day of your visit and you may claim a rebate through Medicare (limited to 5 per calendar year).

Private Health

Speech therapy services may be covered by your private health fund’s extras plan. You may claim private health rebates on the spot through our HICAPS machine, and then pay any gap using EFTPOS, cheque or cash.

All private extras plans vary in their levels of cover, so check with your health provider for details.

Referrals

You don’t need a referral from your GP to work with one of our therapists. It’s that easy!
