Early Childhood

While every child’s development is different, as your baby grows into a toddler they should be starting to express themselves. Working with a speech pathologist, particularly in the early years, can help to prevent your child struggling by the time they reach primary school age.

Language skills vary from child to child, but we can assess children from as young as 18 months. You might need to see a speech pathologist if your child is struggling with:

  • Clear speech and being understood
  • Late talkers (not using words by 18 months)
  • Expressive language – using new words and putting full sentences together
  • Stuttering
  • Listening and following instructions
  • Understanding concepts
  • Social skills, including eye contact and playing with others
  • Pre-literacy skills – sounding out syllables and identifying sounds
  • Voice disorders, particularly husky or raspy voices

Our team of specialists works specifically in early intervention for children under school-age, so if you are worried that your child’s speech is not developing normally, contact us for your appointment.

School-Age Children

To flourish in a school environment, language skills are essential. If your child seems to be struggling to listen, understand, or even to write, our team of therapists may be able to help.

We have worked with hundreds of school-age children over the years. Your child may benefit from consultations if they are having issues with:

  • Language skills
  • Social skills
  • Working memory
  • Pre-literacy skills and phonological awareness
  • Reading and spelling skills
  • Reading comprehension
  • Language comprehension and listening skills
  • Written language

The earlier we can start working with a child, the earlier we can see progress. Contact us today to make an appointment with our school-age specialists.
